I’ve heard so many times that the only person you should be better than, is the person you were yesterday. It’s never rang true to me. I’ll tell you why…

I believe it’s an unrealistic possibility. There are days, weeks, and even years where I feel extremely way behind from the person I was before. Physically, mentally and spiritually. However, some days I feel on top of the world.

Many days, I’m just barely hanging on for dear life. A lot worse off than I was the day before. A lot worse than yesterday, not better.

I believe life is more like the four seasons. With very few extremely great perfect days of spring and fall. A lot of the time life is way too hot, or way too cold. And there’s nothing we can do to change the weather.

I think most of the time we are here in the world just trying to get out of the elements and survive. Are we becoming better? Maybe. Maybe becoming better in spiritual attributes like patience and love, but very very slowly. Then we fall back two steps. A lot worse than yesterday.

Dont beat yourself up if you’re not where you want to be yet. Especially as the world defines as “successful”. It’s just a lie. If you’re still here and trying, that’s a success.

I think we are here to learn and really understand the negative the universe has to offer in every form. Mixed with some excellent times. But few are far between. Just like the few great days in spring and fall.

I think the true answer to life is to just be grateful for each day, moment by moment, and try to see what it is God is teaching us in the next season he has. Trying to do what He would have us do moment to moment to moment. Most of the times one step up, and two steps back. And when we think we have it figured out, here comes the next season.

Besides, the moment we check the temperature of our own oven of happiness too soon, our cake falls, and we need to start again. It’s never even about us anyway. It’s about others.

Don’t try to get ahead. Again, try to be in the moment with gratitude. It’s hard but I think that’s a huge key to happiness. Even if we aren’t better than we were yesterday.

Just a few thoughts.

Today, me and my family had the great privilege to spend several hours in the home of Ammon and Lisa Bundy.

We talked about God, Family, and Country. We talked about where we should be as a country and what it’s going to take to get there by each individual person living in America. We shared scriptures. We talked a lot about the proper role of government and how far we are off track today. We talked about standing for something.

We shared very personal stories from each other’s lives. I haven’t felt this type of kinship in a long time. I felt like I’ve known them forever. Lisa’s testimony was just as powerful as Ammon’s. I was moved today.

Man, I thought my family went through some tough trials. These guys went through hell and back; a modern-day refiners fire that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. Very few, if any, get out of the grasps of the Federal Government once they lock their sights on you, especially when there are bad actors involved in that government. The Bundy’s are a walking, living, miracle. God was with them then, and with them today. I promise you.

Driving away from their home, there were two things that stood out the most; first was the amount of divine protection our Heavenly Father gives to those that love Him and follow the dictates of their conscience. Second was the amount of faith and courage it’s going to take for the last days regarding our freedoms.

I can honestly say that I left their home a better person. I have so much to write. I wish I could share the feeling that was in the room with us. I thank Heavenly Father for today.

I’m so thankful we live in the United States of America, but we have so much work to do. We need to unite as one with correct principles. Thank you Ammon and Lisa for your faith and testimony in the things that are true.

Every morning my good friend Evander Holyfield texts me uplifting and spiritual messages. This one I had to share with you.

From Evander..

“The definition of sabotage is to deliberately destroy, damage, or obstruct (something), especially for political or military advantage.

Don’t you know that every time you accept negative thoughts you allow the enemy to sabotage your purpose?

When you believe the opposite of what God says you can do you allow the enemy to deliberately destroy your chances of winning? The enemy’s objective is to disarm you and take over your territory which is your future! Your future is bright and he knows this. His job is to steal, kill and destroy! Yeah! He’s out to dismantle your dreams! Watch out for him. He’s sneaky. He’ll obstruct your faith using those close to you. He knows your buttons. He knows your tender spot, your weaknesses!

But you can win this battle every time. Arm yourself with the Word! It’s sharper than a double edged 🗡 sword. Fight for yourself. David in the Bible used a slingshot and aimed perfectly and he slayed the giant. Every one else was too scared. They allowed the enemy to sabotage them by appearing bigger than life. David had already slayed many giants so this wasn’t nothing for him. I want you to slay your giants today like I slayed Mike Tyson! You might get your ear bit off but you won’t be taken out.

Life may begin to look like you’re missing parts of your body but don’t fret it’s a test of your courage. Maybe things or people are being removed from you. It’s a test! The enemy is desperate! He’s losing! He’s frustrated! Stand firm! Look at your problems and tell them they’re time is up. Strip him of his power today and tell him you ain’t going no where because God said no weapons will be formed against you and no enemies shall prosper!”

I’m convinced that in order to take the lead on what you are called to do in life, you have to be comfortable with the controversy and pushback it will create. Because it will come. Not only comfortable, but committed to whatever will come from your actions. You first have to have the controversy worked out in your own mind before you can articulate it to the world.

Further, the pressure and energy that will come against you on that level (sometimes even from those closest to you) will then give you the strength and power to step it up to the next level, challenge, and calling in life. The pushback and opposition ends up being the best thing for you.

Things like this make me a little emotional because of how much I miss my old life, but when see that my law enforcement career wasn’t entirely in vain, it makes it all worth it knowing we are headed in the right direction to repair the police and the public’s relationship.

“When constituent Eric Moutsos, fmr police officer, brought the issue of police quotas to me, I had no idea how serious the problem was. He was denied opportunities in the force when he refused to go out and charge/cite/arrest a few more people before he could clock out. We all seem to be annoyed by the thought of speeding ticket quotas, but imagine criminal quotas. In the course of this bill dozens of police officers shared their stories of quotas and how they felt pressure to go out and find more people to cite and arrest if they wanted promotions. They felt this was antithetical to community policing and had the potential to result in violations of citizen rights. It simply didn’t reflect the kind of police officers they wanted to be.

With Senator Howard Stephenson as the primary sponsor, we were able to work with law enforcement administrators to find a compromise that would protect citizens while allowing some measuring of policing activity.

While all of the legislation I’ve worked on impacts the citizens of my district, I love when I get to work on a bill that comes directly from a constituent and benefits so many others.”

Thank you Libertas Institute, Kim Fitzpatrick Coleman and Howard Stephenson for listening and taking action in a law that desperately needed to be passed in the state of Utah.

I’m convinced that whenever you step up a level in life, or even want to, there will be an inevitable opposition of resistance against you; especially spiritually speaking. It was designed this way.

It’s almost as if the devil is allowed to try send stronger winds on your sea of progress based on how big our ships gets, and how fast we are going towards our destination. And the crazy thing is, God allows that opposition for our growth.

Each degree up we take brings new demons down on us; in other words, new levels in life will bring new devils in life. And those devils give us the resistance we need to grow to greatness. We just can’t let the water into our ship and allow it to sink us. If there’s no enemy within us, no enemy from the outside can stop us. Only we can stop ourselves.

Some would be scared and deliberately sabotage their growth because of this principle, but we weren’t destined to stay stagnant. We are destined for a fullness of divinity. And that will take a lot of growth from the painful blessing of opposition.
